Quality assurance is becoming increasingly vital in ensuring that quality is maintained at every level of the industry. Quality management constitutes the management of essential quality assurance processes and services which can be rendered in a variety of contexts, mainly production, manufacturing, and services.

This Qualification is intended to develop the appropriate skills and knowledge required by a person who wishes to pursue a career as a Quality Manager. The function of such a person is to assist the Quality Specialist in the performance of those tasks and activities that would lead to the effective maintenance and improvement of a service delivery, manufacturing, production or construction processes.

Recipients of this qualification will be able to:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of a quality management system.
  • Enhance a quality management system.
  • Implement and control a quality management system.

Rationale

This Qualification will meet the needs of the Quality Management Sector by providing training standards against which Quality Managers can be trained. This Qualification meets the needs of society by providing persons who are competent at improving productivity, efficiency and effectiveness of service, manufacturing, production or construction process.

The majority of the learners attempting this qualification are likely to be persons who have qualified as service, manufacturing, production or construction technicians and who, as a result of such experience, have been identified and selected as having the potential to assist in and or manage the quality assurance aspects of the service delivery, manufacturing, production or construction process.

This Qualification is entry-level learning into Quality Management Systems. This Qualification and further work-place experience in quality assurance will provide the person access to further learning opportunities at NQF Level 6 in Quality Management Systems. 

In order to enrol for this qualification you will be required to meet the entry level requirements as set out below.

It is assumed that the learner has the following knowledge and skills:

  • Mathematical literacy at NQF Level 4.
  • Communication at NQF Level 4.
  • Grade 12

It would be advisable for a person attempting to do this qualification to work in a quality assurance or management position with some knowledge of quality management.

Exit Level Outcomes

Once you have completed this qualification you will be able to:

1. Demonstrate an understanding of quality management system.
2. Enhance a quality management system.
3. Implement and control a quality management system.

Qualification Rules

The Qualification consists of a Fundamental, a Core and an Elective Component.

To be awarded the Qualification learners are required to obtain a minimum of 120 credits as detailed below.

Fundamental Component:

The Fundamental Component consists of Unit Standards to the value of 30 credits all of which are compulsory.

Core Component:

The Core Component consists of Unit Standards to the value of 82 credits all of which are compulsory.

Elective Component:

The Elective Component consists of individual unit standards from which the learner must choose unit standards totaling a minimum of 8 credits. 

Research and Report Writing (18 Credits)

  1. Conduct communication within a business environment (8 Credits)
  2. Write and present for a wide range of purposes, audiences and contexts (5 Credits)
  3. Gather and manage information for decision-making (5 Credits)

Introduction to Quality Management (25 Credits)

  1. Demonstrate an understanding of quality requirements for a quality management system (12 Credits)
  2. Explain the business processes in quality management (8 Credits)
  3. Apply the principles of ethics to improve organisational culture (5 Credits)

Conduct Quality Audits (25 Credits)

  1. Explain the regulatory framework for quality management systems (5 Credits)
  2. Conduct audits of the quality management system (10 Credits)
  3. Apply and continuously improve company policies and procedures (10 Credits)

Develop a Quality Management System (28 Credits)

  1. Demonstrate an understanding of statistical process control (12 Credits)
  2. Manage documentation and records within a quality management system (8 Credits)
  3. Improve the effectiveness and efficiency of quality management system (8 Credits)

Advanced Project Management (32 Credits)

  1. Develop, implement and evaluate an operational plan (8 Credits)
  2. Develop and implement a strategy and action plans for a team, department or division (4 Credits)
  3. Monitor and control the execution of the project management plan for a simple to moderately complex project (12 Credits)
  4. Coordinate the closure of a simple to moderately complex project (8 Credits)

Please complete the form and submit or email it to registrations@fptacademy.co.za together with the supporting documents requested. 

Should you wish to register for any of the courses listed under the courses tab, you may do so via our online learning portal and you will be able to register and pay for the course either via EFT or using your Debit or Credit Card.

To complete this qualification or any of the courses listed under this qualification you will be required to complete a Portfolio of Evidence for each course. 

The Portfolio of Evidence will consist of the following sections:

  1. Portfolio of Evidence Guide – Completed and Signed by Learner
  2. Personal Information – Containing documents such as a Certified Copy of ID and Highest Qualification Achieved Certificate as well as your recent updated CV.
  3. Formative Assessment – This will consist of activities that you have completed during the period of your study. 
  4. Summative Assessment – This assessment will consist of a final assessment once you have completed a course and will consist of the following sections:
  • Knowledge Questions
  • Practical Questions
  • Practical Assignment
  • Peer Evaluation

Final Summative Assessment

This assessment is based on the Exit Level Outcomes of the Qualification and you will be required to submit the following:

Online Learning

Cost: R15 000 – Once-Off

  • Payment arrangement for 3 months payment plan can be made.
  • Should you wish to down-pay the course over a longer period of time, you will be required to register and pay per online course. 
  • Course books will be available for download on each course you complete. 

Individual Class Attendance

Cost: R36 600 – Once-Off

  • Payment arrangement for 3 months payment plan can be arranged.
  • Should you wish to down-pay the course over a longer period of time, you will be required to pay per course attendance.
  • Price includes class attendance of 3-5 days per month, printed course books and learner packs.

In-House Class Attendance (Learnership)

Cost: R30 600 – Once-Off

  • Group fee of a minimum of 6 people attending.
  • Payment arrangement for 3 months payment plan can be arranged.
  • Price includes class attendance of 3-5 days per month, printed course books and learner packs.
  • Venue to be provided by the client.
