Course Overview

First aid is the immediate skilled treatment of a person (s) at the scene of an injury or illness using available materials and resources available. It is the temporary assistance that is rendered until competent medical care, if required, arrives and takes over.  An emergency is an unforeseen event or condition that requires a prompt response.  This course is essential in the workplace and at home and could save a life.

Course Outcomes

After you have completed this section you will be able to:

    1. Demonstrate an understanding of emergency scene management.
    2. Demonstrate an understanding of elementary anatomy and physiology.
    3. Assess an emergency situation.
    4. Apply First Aid procedures to the life-threatening situation.
    5. Treat common injuries. 

Classroom Based: 

  • Contact Phase: 1-2 days
  • Preparation of POE & Summative Assessment: up to 4 weeks.

Online Learning: 

  • Online learning will take at least 2-4 weeks to complete each lesson.
  • You will be required to complete an online test after you have completed each lesson.
  • We have included numerous videos to demonstrate treatment of injuries and illness.

Certificate of Completion will be issued once you have completed the online course successfully. 

This is a non-credit bearing course.
